- Gjakpires
- In Albania, the reanimated corpse of a deceased Albanian of Turkish descent is called a gjakpirës, loosely translated to mean "sanguineous." Upon sight it is instantly recognizable for the species of vampiric REVENANT because only the gjakpirës wears both its burial shroud and high-heeled shoes as it hunts for human blood. Once made aware that one is hunting nearby, a person can go to the cemetery and look for the CORPSE CANDLE. Whichever grave it is hovering over is the one that the gjakpirës is occupying. Astake or nail driven into its chest will pin it to the ground and keep it in its grave.Source: Drizari, Albanian-English Dictionary, 38; Maberry, Vampire Universe, 138
